Violent Ends and Louder Beginnings: Blackwater Drowning Live

If you were looking for a night full of killer female-fronted metal, February 25th at
Scandals Live in Virginia Beach delivered in full force. The night kicked off with two local
openers, Nhibitions and Magg Dylan, followed by Blackwater Drowning, Eva Under Fire and
Butcher Babies. The fans showed up ready for a damn good time the moment doors opened.
Blackwater Drowning came out swinging with “Aberrant Leaves.” It was the perfect way
to kick off a powerful set and get the crowd fired up for, “The 6th Omen.” The intensity put off by the band really reflected in the crowd with everyone head banging along. Watching Morgan seamlessly shift from low growls to high cleans was nothing short of impressive.
The crowd provided an enthusiastic response to “Heir of the Witch” shown through
smiles and constant head bangs, to the applause and cheers at the song’s close. The band and crowd fed off each other’s energy, allowing the momentum to remain high from start to finish.

“Incubus” packed an absolute punch live and was probably my favorite song of the night. The band delivered raw emotion and a strong stage presence throughout the whole set while keeping a tight sound. To close out their performance, Blackwater Drowning debuted “Chain of Ages” live for the first time, a track off their new album Obscure Sorrows. It was honestly a fitting finale. The song’s ending was abrupt and left you with a brutal final message.
Blackwater Drowning’s performance was nothing short of amazing. They packed a punch,
showed no mercy and left the fans wanting more. If you have yet to see them live, I highly
recommend taking the next opportunity you can. You won't be disappointed.
