Bodies Hit the Floor…Harder in Shell Town
Filth welcomed their latest EP, “Welcome to Shell Town,” on March 6th, 2026. It gifts the listeners with three incredibly solid covers and 3 heavy hitter originals that every fan of the band can appreciate. They pay a beautiful homage to the nu-metal classics, Bodies by Drowning Pool, Rollin (Air Raid Vehicle) by Limp Biskit, and Stupify by Disturbed. All of which are songs that played a musical influence for the band. They didn’t just recreate the breakdowns but rather rebuilt them heavier and worthy of any mosh pit.
The EP showcases what Filth does best, a blend of raw and hostile deathcore with the groove of hip-hop influence. It is all aggressive pit music, no filler. The tone of the EP stays consistent and provides the high energy levels to keep the show going. It results in a sound that feels like early 2000s metal but with the addition of modern deathcore production.
Their original song, “Shell Town,” is a tribute to the band’s hometown, Shelby, North Carolina. It reflects the surroundings and experiences that helped shape their identity and sound.
“Outta Pocket” is probably the heaviest original track on the EP. It showcases more of the hip-hop like flow while also serving brutal deathcore breakdowns.
“Not Around Here” gives a solid focus on the groove and aggression which feels like the right way to close out the EP.
Overall the EP is a great balance between covers and originals, though it does make you crave more original work. It is a fun and cohesive album that provides that nu-metal nostalgia while also satisfying the gnarly aggressive deathcore energy we all know and love about Filth.
